Math Curricula

Math teachers are moving to the READY curriculum published by Curriculum Associates. This curriculum has been certified by the Louisiana Department of Education as Tier 1 and was chosen by the Ouachita Parish School district math educators and leaders. The transition to these curricula is just beginning and links to specific curriculum documents cannot be uploaded at this time. However, links are provided to the Comparion Documents for each grade level. These documents include in-depth looks at the Louisiana state standards for mathematics, components of rigor, and sample problems.

According to the Louisiana State Department of Education, students in grades 6-8 are expected to grow to a Mastery level or above achievement on LEAP 2025 exams by 8th grade. To aid in understanding what each level of scores on LEAP 2025 looks like, the DOE publishes documents entitled “Achievement Level Descriptors” which outline specific student response details which data gatherers need to see at each level. Links to Achievement Level Descriptors are included for understanding of the rigorous expectations. For understanding of the rigor and style of the LEAP 2025 exam, a Parent Guide to LEAP 2025 Practice Tests document is provided.. This document allows access to practice tests in multiple grade levels.

For the past three years, the Ouachita Parish School Board has been in partnership with the Southern Regional Educational Board using the Math Design Collaborative. This Collaborative provides rigorous lesson materials and formative assessment tools which partner with the LA math standards and the new curriculum. The MapShell link provides access to specific lessons and activities by grade and skill level which teachers might be using during instruction through MDC.

All  links other than the Math Design Collaborative link are taken from the Louisiana Department of Education’s website louisianabelieves.com but are placed below for quick access.
