Tutoring
Does your child need a tutor? Here are a few suggestions:
- Mrs. Jennifer Fabacher – tutors 6th or 8th grade math; $25 per hour; contact her by email to work out days/times – jfabacher@opsb.net
- Mr. Mark Yates – tutors middle school math, including Algebra, through Calculus and anything in between (can’t tutor any 8th graders he teaches); $25 per hour; Wednesdays 4-5 pm and starting Monday – Thursday 3-5 pm; contact him by email at markyates@opsb.net
- Mrs. Chasity Stringer - Tutors ELA, Sci, Soc. Studies; $25 an hour; Contact her by cell at 318-737-6579 to work out days and times
- Mrs. Wendi Tilmon – 6th, 7th, and 8th grade (can’t tutor any 8th graders she teaches); $25 per hour; right after school (3:10-4:10); Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; contact her by email tilmon@opsb.net
- Mrs. Ginger DeBruhl-Stapp- Tutoring 6th, 7th, and 8th ELA; $30 an hour; Tuesdays and Thursdays only; Contact her by email at debruhlstapp@opsb.net.
- Mrs. Joy Borders- Tutors 6th and7th grade math (can’t tutor any 6th grader she teaches); $25 per hour; contact her by text at (740) 975-9378 to set up date and time.
- Varsity tutors- Free on-demand tutoring; 24/7 live support; Live tutoring from subject matter experts; NOT a video chat, but a live chat with certified experts; Students can log into their Clever account, select the Varsity Tutors icon, select tutoring from the home screen, select “chat with a tutor”. The tutor will work with each student as long as needed.
- Care.com – click on “I need a caregiver”…click on “who needs care?”…click on “my kids”….”what kind of care?”…click on “tutoring and lessons”….
- Check with the education department at ULM to see if they have any students that offer tutoring (342-1266)
- Check with West Monroe High School and see if they have any students that offer tutoring (323-3771)
- A great website is http://homeworkla.org/ where can talk to a free live tutor 24/7!
- West Monroe Community Center – 400 S. 5th Street – 387-4001 – opened Monday through Thursday 8:30-5:00; Fridays 8:30-4:00 – promotes educational and healthy recreational activities for children….has an after school program and offers tutoring with AmeriCorps mentors and center staff…gymnasium sports, also!
