GHMS--NJHS Newsletter----

February 13, 2017

Hopefully all clubbers are off to a great start in 2017! We had a very busy time with the first half of the year, and plan to kick it back up this spring. Please read on……

REMEMBER: As a member of NJHS, you are setting the best example of what it means to be scholarly, responsible, kind, and a leader that is concerned with the community. You must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA & have absolutely no behavior referrals.

The Purpose of NJHS?

The five guiding purposes of NJHS from the beginning have been: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; to encourage responsible citizenship; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.

NJHS Has Served the Community in 2016

*Our NJHS chapter collected donations to help the Cancer Foundation League prepare special Christmas baskets for around 100 cancer patients across north Louisiana.

*We were able to make generous monetary donations at Christmastime to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and to the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home.

*NJHS visited and worked in the OP Animal Shelter on Well Rd. We took a tremendous donation of food, bleach, and other items needed for the care of the animals.

*Clubbers visited at a local senior residence facility and brought the residents small gifts. They all enjoyed visiting with our NJHS kids and singing and playing music.

Because of the clubbers’ willingness to bring donated items, pay club dues, and participate in the butter braid fundraiser, NJHS has been able to provide the previously mentioned services to our community.

THANK YOU clubbers for your attitude towards service!

NJHS t-shirts: There were just a few students that did not order a club shirt. If you are one of these, come to see if there were any extras ordered in your size in Mrs. Maxwell’s room. The shirts are necessary to wear on the spring field trip if you are in the spring service trip group.

What is the dues money and fundraiser money used for? Please refer to the initial Newsletter from August that you received and read. If you need another copy, please see School Messenger >>clubs/organizations>>NJHS.

Club Meetings & Communication About NJHS: We will continue trying to limit the number of physical club meetings and strongly utilize the Messenger page to keep students and parents informed of our NJHS endeavors. NJHS Community Service Field Trips:

Our spring community service trip will be in April or May. The half of our members who did not attend the fall trip will be going on this trip. These students will be given information at a later date concerning the trip and what will be required of them. The trip is still in the planning stage. The opportunity to serve and give to the community is at the heart of what NJHS strives to do.

Looking forward to a very happy & joyful spring season! We are fortunate to have the freedom to work together as a group & serve our community.  It’s a privilege to serve.
